The Walnut Creek UMW holds two retreats annually.  One in the Spring and a second in the Fall.  The Spring retreat is held at our church and the Fall retreat is usually an overnight at an outside location.

Fall Retreats

2018 saw Walnut Creek and Walnut Avenue UMC's combine their congregations and their United Methodist Women units.  It has been delightful to become friends with each other and Walnut Avenue asked Walnut Creek to join them at their Fall Retreat in Applegate. It was such a great experience the Applegate Jesuit Retreat Center has been booked for our retreat on October 4-5, 2019 and again for 2020. More to come on that later.


Spring Retreats

Rev. Mary M. Maaga led a retreat in 2017 based on her book, 'Cultivating Courage - Approaches to Victorious Living." Mary has a PhD with distinction in Religion and Society from Drew University and was ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church

In 2018, we were delighted to have Lori Ortiz, MDiv lead us through a retreat asking the questions, 'Can we make time for Sabbath?' 'Should we?  Lori guided us through the ancient practice of honoring the Sabbath and where it fits into our lives today.

2019 brought Sharon Campton as our retreat leader.  Sharon led us to explore how we have experienced self-love through our faith, family and culture.  Sharon is an ordained Interfaith Minister, a Lay Pastor in the Presbytery of San Francisco and a Stephen Minister.

For the 2020 Spring retreat, WCUMC is asking members to attend the March 21st Los Rios Spiritual Event at Petaluma UMC.
